President Trump will be visiting Lehigh County next week. Congressman Dan Meuser announced on social media that Trump is expected to speak at the Mack Trucks facility in Macungie on June 23rd. In a post on X, Meuser wrote in part, "Mack Trucks are a symbol of America’s manufacturing strength. Their Lehigh Valley operations are a pillar of the local economy, employing Pennsylvania workers and driving the nation’s trucking industry. Thank you, President Trump, for supporting American workers."

The York Revolution forfeited their game on Pride Night after players refused to participate. The team said several players refused to wear Thursday's Pride-themed jerseys, and as a result they decided to forfeit the game so nobody would wear a uniform they aren't comfortable with. However, the team still held its Pride Night festivities, with them stating that hosting the event is more important than playing the game. The Revolution added that the players' refusal is "completely inconsistent" with their vision as the "Most Welcoming Place in York."
As two Jersey Shore communities mourn the deaths of two teens who were killed while riding their e-bikes, the state of New Jersey is set to implement a law setting an age limit for operating e-bikes. The new law takes effect in one month -- July 19th -- and is considered one of the strictest in the nation for e-bikes and e-scooters. It prohibits anyone under the age of 15 from operating an e-bike or an e-scooter in the state. The law also requires all e-bikes and e-scooters to be registered with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Over the past two weeks, two teens -- one from Southampton and another from Middletown -- were killed when the e-bikes they were riding collided with vehicles.
Missing New Jersey Congressman Tom Kean Jr. is announcing when he'll return to Capitol Hill. An aide to Kean says he'll return to work on June 30th. The Republican lawmaker hasn't been seen in Washington since March 5th, missing 135 votes, and he hasn't been seen in his North Jersey congressional district--the seventh--either. Both Kean and his staff have repeatedly said he's dealing with a personal health issue but haven't divulged any details. His mystery absence has drawn a lot of national attention because Kean faces a tough re-election fight this November against Democrat Rebecca Bennett in what's considered a swing district.
A bill now before the New Jersey Assembly would create a new political violence charge for prosecutors to add to indictments for increasing penalties at sentencing. The state Senate unanimously approved the bill, which would treat cases of political violence much like bias intimidation, which is the state's term for hate crimes. The measure was introduced in February as a response to political attacks around the country last year, including the gunman charged for killing former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband and their dog, and critically hurt Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
It turns out, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials say an illegal immigrant from Peru had already voluntarily left the country before an ICE agent shot at a van Monday while looking for him. ICE admitted in a statement Thursday that agents were "conducting a targeted immigration enforcement operation at Castillo-Ormeno's last known address, and observed an illegal alien who looked similar to the target get into a van that departed the residence." They say the van hit an agent, hurting his thigh and shin before that agent fired shots at the van. Eduardo Cruz Garcia of Barnegat was on Wednesday identified as the van driver, and was detained on Tuesday. ICE agents say Garcia was also not in the country legally.
The Phillies are going to be without one of their outfielders for the rest of the year. The team announced on Thursday that Adolis Garcia will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a lat injury. The 33-year-old was hitting just .195 on the season to go with seven homers and 21 RBIs in almost 70 games. Garcia signed a one-year deal worth 10-million dollars to join Philly in the offseason.
