Here's what's trending for June 16.

The 5th and final member of the so-called Quakertown 5 isn't going to trial. Bucks County DA Joe Khan says his office is dropping disorderly conduct and resisting arrest charges against the fifth Quakertown Area High School student charged in an anti-ICE protest back in February. The student's attorney, Ed Angelo, welcomes the news. "It's just a very good outcome. I'm very happy for my client mainly and her family," Angelo says. He says his ciient needs to have a clean record for 90 days and write an essay to the DA. Khan's office says all of the five juveniles have agreed to resolve their cases through diversionary programs and that his office is continuing its investigation into the response of the Quakertown Police and its Chief, Scott McElwee, who suffered three broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a concussion as he fought with students when the February protest turned violent.

The body of a man was recovered Sunday night from the Delaware River in Northampton County. Stan Brown is the Chief of Pennsylvania Water Rescue Station 72, the rescue squad that recovered the body of the 45-year-old man. He says the victim was fishing just a few feet from shore when he was swept away. He says situations like that are, unfortunately, not that unusual. "If you don't know the river really well and how to read it, you can step into that current, which is really strong, without realizing you did it until it's too late," Brown says. The victim's name has not been released.

A man charged for a deadly stabbing inside an Allentown hookah lounge is found not guilty. Isiah Yeager was acquitted of homicide yesterday in the death of 29-year-old Kevin Tarafa. Tarafa was fatally stabbed after a fight at Synergy Hookah Lounge in June 2023. Three others are charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the stabbing.

Gas prices continue to head lower in both the Lehigh Valley and across the Commonwealth. According to the latest AAA East Central Gas Price Report, Pennsylvania's gas prices sat at $4.21 as of Monday, down nearly 12 cents a gallon from the previous week, but 92 cents more expensive than the 2025 price. In the Lehigh Valley, that price is at $3.93, down 14 cents from a week earlier, but 77 cents costlier than a year ago.

An earthquake was recorded in Maryland near the Pennsylvania border on Monday. Shortly after 11 a.m, the State Department of Natural Resources recorded a 2.4 magnitude earthquake about 17 miles from the state line bordering York County. So far, there have been no reports of damage.

The National Weather Service is looking to see if York County was hit by a tornado during the severe weather Sunday night. Heavy damage was reported in Chanceford Township along with flattened wheat fields that raise the possibility of straight lined winds. Multiple residents reported hearing what sounded like a freight train, which county emergency management officials say is consistent with a tornado.

While the Department of Justice works towards uncovering and prosecuting fraud nationwide, state attorneys general are conducting their own investigations. Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday says fraud can hurt people in more than one way. "We view Medicaid fraud as not just a financial crime, but as a serious public safety issue," Sunday says. Last week, two Pennsylvania brothers were convicted on racketeering charges for multiple fraud schemes, including Medicaid fraud that caused more than $32 million dollars in losses.

The FBI is investigating an Ocean County shooting involving an ICE agent. It happened yesterday morning in the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township on Route 72 near Mermaid Drive, when ICE agents tried to detain a van driver. ICE identified the driver as Friedrich Castillo-Ormeno, an illegal alien from Peru. Stafford Township initially reported that the vehicle hit the agent and sped off, and the ICE agent responded by shooting out the van's back window. However, in an afternoon update, police said the officer was not hit but did fire his weapon and was injured. There is no word on whether Castillo-Ormeno was injured. He remains at large. Local police were not involved in the operation, in compliance with New Jersey state law.
