Quakertown Borough Council got an earful from residents who want borough police chief Scott McElree fired. The Police Chief’s Association of Bucks County investigated what happened on February 20 when student protestors walked out of school and clashed with police. The incident led to 5 students being arrested and charged. The review says the police response "was professional, coordinated, and responsive to rapidly changing conditions. This woman doesn't buy it. "The fox guarding the hen house. I think it was all just a big waste," she said. The Bucks County District Attorney's Office says its separate investigation into police conduct is still ongoing and there is no timeline yet on when it will be done. Two of the five still face felony and misdemeanor charges.

The average price for a gallon of gas is seven cents higher in Pennsylvania this week at $4.16, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report. That is 83 cents more expensive than tha same date one year ago. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price is $4.12, up 16 cents from the previous week and 95 cents more than the 2025 price.

The East Penn School District Board of Directors has adopted a preliminary budget with a 4.1% property tax increase. Officials say the proposed nearly $213.6 million 2026-27 budget is a balanced one. Estimates indicate an increase at that level would raise the annual property tax bill by about $194 for the average assessed home currently valued at more than $216,000 in the district.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman was inside the room in which President Trump was almost shot Saturday night and he says had the gunman accessed that ballroom the result could have been devastating. "We had the entire line of succession right there in that small area. Mike Johnson was there. Marco Rubio was there. The President and Vice President Vance were there and Pete Hegseth too," Fetterman said. Fetterman says the assassination attempt Saturday night should prompt Democrats to "drop the Trump Derangement Syndrome" and drop the opposition to a White House ballroom.

All living former Governors of Pennsylvania are calling on the state legislature to ensure the safety of Governor Josh Shapiro and his family after State Treasurer Stacy Garrity declined $1 million in funding for security upgrades at his personal residence. In a statement, the former governors urged Pennsylvania lawmakers to make the safety and security of Shapiro and his family a priority in the aftermath of another assassination attempt against President Trump last weekend and the arson attack at the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg last year. Garrity, Shapiro's expected Republican opponent in the November election, said the Treasury does not have the legal authority to pay for security improvements to a personal residence. The Democrat Shapiro accused Republicans of playing "shameful games," attacking him and his family.

Pennsylvania residents are running out of time to register for the upcoming primary election. Residents have until next Monday May 4th to register to vote. Registration can be done online or in-person at a number of places, including some county offices and PennDOT driver and photo license centers. The primary election is scheduled for May 19th.

A study of state data finds a third of New Jersey's critical infrastructure will be in flood-prone areas within 24 years, so calling on the state to pour money into flood mitigation. Government and environmental think tank Build By Design put out the report, finding the Garden State will need to spend about three billion dollars on raising buildings near coastlines, and creating more drainage features to counter decades of overbuilding.

For a second straight game, the Flyers had a chance to close out the Penguins in their playoff series. For the second straight time, they failed to do it. Pittsburgh beat the Flyers 3-2 last night in Pittsburgh. Flyers coach Rick Tocchet tips his cap to the Penguins. "Give them credit. They defended really and blocked a lot of shots. We missed the net a lot tonight. We've gotta come up with some stuff here," Tocchet said. Game six is Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

The Eagles are taking care of two young players on their roster. The team picked up fifth-year options for Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith on Monday. Carter will make about $27 million while Smith is slated to earn just under $14 million for the 2027 season. The former Georgia teammates each had three sacks last year, with Carter making his second-career Pro Bowl.
