Power is restored in the Lehigh Valley after outages caused by the high winds yesterday. Thousands of residents lost electricity when wind gusts got close to 50 miles-per-hour. Most of the outages were in Northampton County.
The weekend was exceptionally windy and Accu-Weather's Joe Lundberg says it will be today as well. "It's going to be quite windy again today with gusts up to 30 miles an hour," Lundberg says. The wind begins to lessen a bit tonight.
Authorities are investigating a crash in Northampton County over the weekend. Police say two vehicles collided on Route 378 in Lower Saucon Township Saturday afternoon. At least two people were taken to the hospital, where their conditions remain unknown.
Several fire crews worked to put out an early morning fire in Lower Saucon Township. According to communication officials, the blaze began around 1:30 a.m. Monday in a garage on Lower Saucon Road. The fire was under control by 3 a.m.
Another area diner has decided to shift to 24-7 hours. John’s Plain & Fancy Diner, on South West End Boulevard in Quakertown, will operate 24 hours seven days a week beginning today. Earlier this year, Starlite Diner in Upper Macungie and Nazareth Diner in Nazareth also resumed 24-7 hours.
Senator John Fetterman is on the mend. Fetterman was briefly hospitalized after a fall at his Braddock home last week but posted a smiling picture to social media on Saturday with the message "20 stitches later and a full recovery, I'm back home." A spokesperson for Fetterman said the senator fell Thursday while taking a walk outside his home and suffering what doctors called a "ventricular fibrillation flare-up," which led him to feel light-headed and fall to the ground.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office is warning residents about a data breach that happened over the summer. The AG says personal information belonging to Pennsylvania residents, including social security numbers, may have been accessed during the August cyber incident. There is no evidence that any personal information has been misused so far, according to officials. Some people who were affected were notified via email on Friday. A new study from Penn State is identifying a skin cancer cluster around farmland in the Commonwealth. Researchers say adults over the age of 50 are 57-percent more likely to develop melanoma in 15 counties. The study determined counties with more cultivated cropland and higher herbicide use had significantly higher melanoma rates. Anyone concerned about their risk of skin cancer is encouraged to perform regular skin checks, and to also wear sun-protective clothing and sunscreen outdoors.
A man accused of trying to confront acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba is under arrest. Keith Michael Lisa is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon in a federal facility and damaging federal property. Investigators say, Lisa arrived at the federal building in Newark on Wednesday with a bat. Security didn't let him in but authorities say he came back without the bat and got up to Habba's office. When he couldn't see her, he tore down photos that were on the wall and left.
For the second straight week, the Eagles defense held a dangerous offense to just one touchdown. Last week it was the Packers. Sunday night it was the Lions in a 16-9 Eagles win. Head coach Nick Sirianni says it all starts with pressuring the other team's quarterback. "We were to get some early pressure on him and get some hits on him. Those are always going to affect quarterbacks. We did a really good job there as a defensive front," Sirianni says. The Eagles are now 8-2 and tied with the Rams for the NFC's best record. The Eagles visit the Cowboys this coming weekend.
