Here's what's trending for October 15.

Back in April Cody Balmer firebombed the governor's residence in Harrisburg. Tuesday he pleaded guilty to all charges. Gov. Josh Shapiro says since that April day, he has felt guilt for putting his family at risk. "I've carried with me this enormous sense of guilt. Guilt that doing this job that I love so much has put our children's lives at risk. It's been really hard," the governor said. Shapiro says his family still feels vulnerable, and will be forever changed by this event.

Nearly two weeks after being hit by a vehicle, an Allentown man has died from those injuries. 65-year-old Jerome Bauder died Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Bauder was struck back on the night of October 1 around 7 o'clock at the intersection of West Allen St. and N. 15th St. in Allentown. The Allentown Police Department and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are continuing an investigation.

Allentown School District officials said air quality test results show no threats to student health from reported mold beneath the Allen High pool. The school district says air quality tests conducted as recently as the last day of September indicate no immediate health hazard and that the space is safe to use. Several social media posts questioned the air quality in the natatorium, but the district says those concerns are unfounded.

Republican Lehigh Valley Congressman Ryan Mackenzie visited Lehigh Valley International Airport Tuesday to talk with TSA employees who continue to work as the federal government shutdown rolls on. Mackenzie told those employees the shutdown is a Democrat shutdown as Republicans in both the House and Senate have voted to keep the government open. Mackenzie says negotiations between Republicans and Democrats seem to be going nowhere. The longest government shutdown ever was 35 days back in 2019.

AAA East Central's latest gas price report shows the average price for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania dropped about two-and-a-half cents from last week. The current price of $3.25 a gallon is 12 cents lower than last October 14th's price. In the Lehigh Valley, that price was $3.15 as of Tuesday, down a penny from last week and 15 cents less than one year earlier.

Whitehall Township supervisors have ok'd a $41,500 engineering study to be done to evaluate what can and can't be done to make Water Street safer. Diane Fleming lives there and says it's long overdue. "I'm excited to see the outcome of that. I don't know if having this road closed at the end is going to be their permanent solution, but I'm excited to see what comes of it," Fleming says. She says six years ago, her husband was hit by a distracted driver on that road and last December, Edward Tomcics was struck and killed by a speeding driver.

The second Pennsylvania State Trooper injured in last week's shooting is out of the hospital. Wellspan Health officials said Trooper Lucas Amarose was discharged Monday after five days in their care. Amarose and Trooper Thomas Pack were both shot multiple times during what authorities called a "fierce gunfight" with a suspect after a police chase. Pack was released from the hospital the day after the shooting.

Operations at Harrisburg International Airport were interrupted Tuesday evening when someone hacked the PA system. Airport officials said an unauthorized user was able to get access to the PA and played a recording with a political message. The airport noted the message did not contain any threats. An investigation is underway.

An analysis by the polling site VoteHub shows four percent of New Jersey voters, or more than 275,400, have cast their mail-in ballots for the November general election. Of these ballots, 63 percent come from registered Democrats while almost 23 percent come from Republicans and a little more than 14 percent are from unaffiliated or third-party voters. Requests for vote-by-mail represent some 14 percent of all registered voters in the Garden State.

A New Jersey Superior Court judge has rejected an effort by the manufacturer of Glock firearms to block a lawsuit filed by the state against the company. Attorney General Matthew Platkin calls the ruling a major victory for the state in its attempt to hold the company accountable for allegedly making a gun that can be converted into a rapid-fire gun. The gun with the Glock switch can potentially shoot 14 rounds in less than a second. Judge Lisa Adubato rejected the argument the lawsuit violates Glock's Second Amendment rights.

For the first time since head coach James Franklin was fired, we've heard from some of his players including captain and linebacker Dom DeLuca. "Coach Franklin was one of the only coaches who believed in me and give me an opportunity to play at my dream school and achieve my dream of playing at Penn State. So, it's a very emotional time right now," DeLuca says. Penn State plays its first game under interim head coach Terry Smith Saturday at Iowa.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson is expected to return in 2026. NBC Philadelphia reports the 62-year-old will be back to manage the Phillies next year. Thomson helped lead the Phillies to a World Series berth a few years ago.

Jason Kelce is responding to recent posts about next year's Super Bowl halftime show. The former NFL player said on Tuesday that there were several fake quotes attributed to him online. Posts linked Kelce to at least one quote that said "If Bad Bunny is a bad fit for the Super Bowl, then maybe the people making these comments are a bad fit for America's future." The ex-Philadelphia Eagles center told his followers that unless it came directly from him or his platforms, the quotes are not real. Many people have expressed anger at Bad Bunny being this year's halftime show performer. Turning Point USA is proposing an "All-American" halftime show airing at the same time as the NFL event happening on February 8th next year.
