Two months before it usually opens for the winter season, the warming station at the River Crossing YMCA in Allentown opened its doors Monday. That comes after Allentown public works employees bulldozed an homeless encampment along the Jordan Creek. Tiffany Henning, with the River Crossing Y, lists what the warming station has to offer. "Every night they get a meal. They are able to shower. They get a bed and a safe place to sleep," Henning says. Last month, the city announced it was evicting the homeless encampment due to flooding concerns along the creek. The warming station will remain operational through the end of next April.

The other two bomb threats were made against Trexler Middle School. A student was charged in the middle school bomb threats.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams says a man previously charged with killing a man in a Reading park is now charged with killing that man's wife and one-year-old son. Adams says back on September 12, Jose Rodriguez picked up Geraldina Peguero-Mancebo and her son, Jeyden. "It was his intention to drive to that area to kill Geraldina because she did not want to leave her husband, Junior Cabrera-Colon," the DA says. Adams says Rodriguez shot the woman to death and then drowned the toddler in muddy water in a swampy area north of Reading. Later, Rodriguez admits to shooting Cabrera-Colon to death. Adams says Rodriguez killed all three because Peguero-Mancebo would not leave her husband to be with him.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is ruling that voters must be notified if they make any mistakes on their mail-in ballots. The Court ruled four to three recently that counties must make voters aware if there are any issues that could lead to their ballot getting thrown out, like a missing date or signature. The decision was made in a lawsuit filed against Washington County last year after county officials announced it would not notify voters of any potentially disqualifying ballot errors. The majority ruling said the Court must interpret the Election Code in a way that "favors the fundamental right to vote and enfranchises, rather than disenfranchises, the electorate."

Republican nominee for governor Jack Ciattarelli and Democratic Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill squared off in their first debate more than a week ago. Currently, polls show the race is virtually tied.
