Charges have been filed against an Allentown School District principal. Lehigh County DA Gavin Holihan describes what Harrison-Morton Middle School principal Stephanie Williams allegedly did. "She was seen by several people behaving erratically and described as inexplicable behavior. They dealt with her throughout the course of several hours. Through the course of the investigation, they couldn't come up with a reason for her behavior," Holihan says. This all happened during a community event at Bucky Boyle Park back on September 13. Investigators also say Williams was yelling at children during that event and kicked ouit the window of a police vehicle. The Allentown School District says she has been placed on administrative leave.
AAA East Central is out with its new gas price report and it shows the average price of gas across Pennsylvania is a penny lower than it was one week earlier. The current average price is $3.31 a gallon, one cent lower than last week and two cents less than a year ago. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price is at $3.22, up three cents from the previous week and even with the price one year ago.
One of the suspects in a Monroe County murder wants his upcoming trial moved. Police say Andrew Quattrochi shot and killed 17-year-old Garret Gearhart inside a Wawa on West Main Street in Stroudsburg in November 2024. Quattrochi wants the trial moved out of Monroe County, saying media coverage has tainted the jury pool. Quattrochi's father and brother are also facing charges in connection with the killing.
A 70-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Route 100 in Berks County around 8 o'clock Tuesday night. The man was heading north and crossed over into the southbound lanes and hit an oncoming vehicle near Niantic Road in Washington Township. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for about five hours.
A Pennsylvania casino is facing a six-figure fine after a teenage boy was able to play the slot machines for hours. The State Gaming Control Board said the 13-year-old played the slots at Valley Forge Casino Resort in Montgomery County last November after entering the playing floor with his father. The board noted the boy's father gave him 600 dollars to play with. The casino was fined 300 thousand dollars, while the boy's father received a citation.
Lehigh Valley IronPigs fans once again proved to be some of the best fans in baseball. The club announced this week it led the Minor League in attendance for the third year in a row. Over 585,000 fans watched an IronPigs game at Coca-Cola Park this season, an average attendance of more than 8200 per game. It caps off a historic season for the IronPigs, who also became the fastest franchise to welcome ten-million fans.
The Phillies set a franchise record with eight home runs in their 11-1 win over the Marlins Wednesday night. Kyle Schwarber hit two of them, giving him 56 this season, two behind the franchise record held by Ryan Howard. Manager Rob Thomson hopes Schwarber rewrites the franchise record book. "Ryan Howard was a great player. I've got a lot of respect for him, but it would be nice to see Schwarb break it. He's had one heck of a year. He's a heck of a person," Thomson says. Edmundo Sosa hit three homers in the game, becoming the only Phillies shortstop to do that in one game. The win wrapped up a first round bye in the upcoming playoffs.
The Eagles are shelving one of their pass rushers for more than a month. ESPN reports Nolan Smith Jr. was placed on injured reserve after straining his triceps during Sunday's win over the Rams. The team hopes he can return against the Packers on November 10th, one week after Philly's bye. It's the same injury Smith had surgery for following Philadelphia's Super Bowl win.
