"This is an absolutely tragic and devastating day for York County and for the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," Gov. Josh Shapiro said after the killing of three York County police officers and wounding of two others. It happened around 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon when police were serving a warrant at a home in Codorus Township. The shooter was reportedly the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lived in the farmhouse. Tuesday, the ex-girlfriend alerted police about the shooter, saying that he was in a nearby cornfield stalking the residence. Northern York Police then got a search warrant and restraining order for him, but were unable to serve him on Tuesday night. When police returned Wednesday, what's described as a "camouflage-wearing shooter" opened fire from the cornfield and struck the five officers. Police returned fire, killing the man.

Officials with the Pittsburgh FBI Office are calling yesterday's gate crash a "targeted attack". Authorities say suspect Donald Henson has admitted that he drove his vehicle into the gate early Wednesday morning in order to "make a statement." Assistant Special Agent in Charge Christopher Giordano says they are considering the man's actions an act of terror against the FBI. Henson, a Penn Hills resident, was reportedly yelling the Latin phrase "sic semper tyrannis," meaning "thus always to tyrants," after his vehicle slammed into the fence. That is the same phrase John Wilkes Booth is said to have yelled after assassinating President Lincoln. Federal officials say Henson is a former military member and has some known mental health challenges.
