Police are investigating a Labor Day shooting in Easton that injured a teenager. The department says a 17-year-old was shot near North Eleventh and Spring Garden yesterday evening. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Authorities say they are looking for three males who were wearing all black and masks at the time of the shooting.
A standoff in Emmaus ended peacefully last night. Police were called to the 600 block of Furnace Street for reports of an armed suicidal man shortly before 6 p.m. The area was shut down and several other agencies were called in for assistance during the standoff, which lasted about 90 minutes before the man was taken into custody. Authorities say he is now receiving treatment.
A man faces charges after leading police in Northampton County on a chase over the weekend. Police say Derrick Colon faces numerous charges after he was spotted speeding while on his motorcycle on Newburg Road in Upper Nazareth Township Sunday. When police tried to pull Colon over, he allegedly drove off at an even faster speed, crossed the double yellow lines and ran a red light at the intersection with Nazareth Pike. At that point, Colon was thrown from the motorcycle and eventually arrested.
A man is facing DUI charges for a crash in Bethlehem last weekend. Police say the man ran a red light and hit another vehicle at Stefko Boulevard and Pembroke Road early Sunday morning. The driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening images. Authorities say they expect to charge the man after they receive his blood test results.
Summer came to an unofficial end Monday. One swimmer said he used the occasion to spend one final day at a local swimming pool. "Me and my friends just came so we could swim one more time before the season ends and to see all our friends and the lifeguards," the teen said. While summer unofficially ended Monday, it's official demise is September 22nd.

Demonstrators called for labor rights and protested against the Trump Administration as part of the Workers Over Billionaires rallies taking place across the county. May Day Strong says over one-thousand Workers Over Billionaire events took place yesterday, ranging from marches to picnics in every state. Organizers say the action is needed because, "billionaires are stealing from working families, destroying our democracy, and building private armies to attack our towns and cities."
Pennsylvania leaders are supporting workers in Pittsburgh. Yesterday, Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis joined Pittsburgh union members for the city's Labor Day Parade. Shapiro praised the nurses at UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital for their recent unionization vote. The governor also criticized Republicans in the state Senate over ongoing delays in passing a new state budget.
State health officials have confirmed New Jersey's third case of West Nile virus this year. The latest case was confirmed in Sussex County with an asymptomatic West Nile-positive blood donor. The first two cases, one child and one adult, have since been discharged from the hospital and are recovering at home. Infections typically occur between now and the end of September. Officials are urging residents to take precautions to prevent infection. Last year, 41 people were infected in New Jersey, including eight fatalities.
