The case against two Allentown police officers will be prosecuted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. The Lehigh County DA's office is referring the charges against retired officer Jason Krasley and suspended officer Evan Weaver to the state due to a potential conflict of interest. The two are charged with numerous sex crimes for alleged incidents that happened while they worked in the APD Vice Squad. In one case, Krasley and Weaver are accused of forcing a woman to perform sex acts. Krasley, who retired in 2021, also is charged in other cases with raping multiple women while investigating prostitution. He is also accused of stealing more than $5,000 during a drug investigation in 2019.

A former Allentown police officer who authorities say tried to kill his wife will not spend any more time behind bars after taking a plea deal. Ismael Segarra Junior was sentenced earlier this week to between 7-and-24-months in jail, but with time served he is already on parole. Police said Segarra pointed a shotgun at his wife in 2023 and pulled the trigger, but it jammed. He resigned from the department several months later.

A 78-year-old Bethlehem man could be sentenced to 50-and-a-half to 101 years behind bars after being convicted of several charges related to a sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. Ronald Haberstumpf will also be required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. He is set to be sentenced on December 9.

State officials say there were more child abuse cases in Pennsylvania last year, but not in the Lehigh Valley. According to the Department of Human Services, there were 177 substantiated reports of child abuse in Lehigh and Northampton Counties, a decline of 17 from the year before. The Department reported a total of 4,756 substantiated child abuse cases across the Commonwealth, leading to 60 deaths.

Today is day two of the Great Allentown Fair. The Fair's Jessica Ciecwisz says if you've got youngsters who want to go, the price is right. "Kids under 12 are always free," Ciecwisz says. And today and tomorrow, admission to the Fair is free if you get there between noon to 2pm. The Fair's hours are noon-to-10 today-through-Sunday and noon-to-nine on Labor Day.

According to the newest AAA East Central report, Pennsylvania's gas prices went up pretty drastically over a week's time. The average price for a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania was $3.31 as of Tuesday, up seven cents from the week before. That's still 21 cents less than the price one year earlier however. In the Lehigh Valley, the average price was $3.19 on Tuesday, up eight cents from the previous week, but 21 cents less than the 2024 price.

With no Pennsylvania budget, close to two months after it was due, there's still no funding for public transportation. Governor Josh Shapiro says says he wants GOP senators to come back to Harrisburg to make a deal. "It is time for the Senate to act on recurring revenue. We've shown them a number of different pathways to that. It's time for them to show that they've got the votes, to stop playing politics, to close the deal and get it done. People, not just in Philadelphia, but in each of our 67 counties rely on mass transit to get to work, to get to school, to get to doctor's appointments. It's time to get it done," Shapiro says.
