Monroe County DA Mike Mancuso describes what the initial questioning of quadruple murderer Bryan Kohberger was like after his arrest in the Poconos in December 2022. "We got the impression that he believed it was a cat-and-mouse kind of thing. I remember him being somewhat evasive, with a lot of denials and talking about a lot of things that weren't relevant for the question that was being asked," Mancuso says. Mancuso describes what those conversations led him to believe. "Probably a guilty person avoiding the direct answers that were being asked for," Mancuso says. The panel of judges had originally selected First Assistant U.S. Attorney Desiree Grace, a longtime federal prosecutor, to replace Habba, but the Justice Department later fired Grace. Attorney General Pam Bondi accused the judges of undermining presidential authority.
