It takes three consecutive days of 90+ temperatures to make an official heat wave. Temperatures eclipsed 90 both Sunday and Monday and Accu-Weather's Joe Lundberg says it'll happen again today. "I think we're going to blow past 90 like it's standing still," Lundberg says. He says there's a good chance today's high will pass this date's record of 98 degrees, which was set in 1923. Another 90+ day is likely again tomorrow before a bit of relief is expected Thursday.
PPL's Dana Burns says her company works year round to hopefully prevent any brownouts from happening during heat waves like the one the Lehigh Valley is currently experiencing. "During heat waves, rising temperatures can increase electricity demand and PPL Electric Utilities prepares extensively to ensure reliable service, even in the hottest of temperatures," Burns says. She adds customers can do their part as well by running some appliances like dishwashers, washing machines and dryers in off-peak hours to lessen the stress on the grid.
The current and former Allentown police officers charged with sex crimes appeared in court on Monday. Officer Evan Weaver and former officer Jason Krasley are accused of coercing prostitutes into sex in exchange for not charging them with a crime. During yesterday's arraignment, Krasley's defense attorney requested a time extension for pretrial motions due to the amount of evidence needed for the trial. The prosecution allowed the request, and the judge in the case set the next hearing for late August.

A well known Lehigh Valley Republican and President Trump backer has agreed to pay $500,000 to settle a federal lawsuit that claimed he refused to pay a cybersecurity company after its audit failed to find fraud in the 2020 presidential election in Pennsylvania’s Fulton County. Bill Bachenberg was one of two defendants in the lawsuit filed by XRVision, which claimed when it found no evidence of election fraud in the 2020 election, Bachenberg and co-defendant Stefanie Lambert pulled the project and failed to pay the company for the work already completed. Bachenberg has now agreed to pay the $500,000 in exchange from being dropped from the lawsuit still standing against Lambert.

Democrats are voicing their displeasure with President Trump over the strikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, saying they were not informed of the decision to carry out the strikes until after they happened. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has joined other Democrats in calling for the impeachment of President Trump, saying his decision to bomb iran was a "grave violation of the constitution and congressional war powers." Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. John Fetterman tells Fox News the idea is a waste of time. "He's been impeached twice and he's still our president. So, it's not going anywhere and I don't think that's helpful. I think if you throw that term around that actually diminishes the severity of what impeachment is really reserved for," Fetterman says.
