Police in Macungie are searching for a driver who hit a child riding a bicycle last night then fled the scene. Authorities said the child was struck on Hickory Street between Lea and Church shortly before eight p.m. Their condition has not been released. Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Macungie P-D.
The annual Memorial Day events in Easton returned this year. A parade was held in the city along with the ceremonial wreath drop. Easton Mayor Sal Panto met the Mayor of Phillipsburg, New Jersey at the middle of the Free Bridge to drop a wreath into the Delaware River in memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Last year's events in Easton and Phillipsburg were canceled due to severe weather.
Authorities say a man drowned in a Monroe County lake this past weekend while trying to rescue others. State Police said 40-year-old Bibin Michael jumped into Lake Kathryn after two people flipped over while kayaking Sunday afternoon. The kayakers were able to make it to shore, but Michael went underwater and did not resurface. His death remains under investigation.
Two people are dead after a shooting in a Philadelphia park Monday night. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel says many of the victims are teenagers. "Two of those individuals, a male and a female, have been pronounced dead. The other nine are in stable condition. Of those, three of them are juveniles, 15, 16 and 17," Bethel said. No weapon has been recovered yet and a motive is still unclear.
Flags will remain at half-staff in Pennsylvania today to honor state park ranger Alec Campbell. Campbell's body was recovered from the Neshaminy Creek in Tyler State Park on Sunday, two days after his boat capsized while kayaking. He was 38 years old. Governor Josh Shapiro said his family is eternally grateful for Alec's service to the Commonwealth.
