PPL Electric is releasing more details about its rate hike next month. The utility company says the generation supply price, also known as the "Price to Compare," will increase about 15-percent for residential customers starting on June 1st. PPL Electric President Christine Martin said rates are going up due to what she called "steep price increases". PPL is encouraging customers to consider its bill assistance programs or potentially find a new energy supplier.
Two people were taken to the hospital after a motorcycle crash in Northampton County this past weekend. Police say the motorcycle collided with another vehicle headed in the opposite direction at North Broadway and Tribe Lane in Wind Gap, injuring the driver and passenger. Their conditions are not known at this time. The crash is under investigation.
Monroe County prosecutors are bringing charges against a trio of suspects accused of threatening a sheriff's office employee. Reports say the victim was illegally surveilled, was directly threatened and had a private telephone call unlawfully intercepted. Suspects arrested in the case include 27-year-old Joshua Moxam, a staffer at the Monroe County Courthouse.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled in Carbon County today for a man convicted on charges of posing as a medical provider. Prosecutors say Adam Herman took on patients and submitted prescriptions while passing himself off as a doctor as part of an effort to defraud Medicaid. Herman has pleaded no contest to 17 felony counts.

"The sunshine we'll enjoy today will fade behind increasing clouds, but it'll still be a nice day," Lundberg says. After today, expect a rainy day tomorrow and some rain and thunderstorms Wednesday. The expected rain this week follows 1.52 inches of rain Friday into Saturday.

Officials with Nippon Steel are not giving up on efforts to acquire U.S. Steel. The Japanese company's vice chairman is expected to be in Washington, D.C. this week to discuss the possible deal with members of the Trump Administration. Their latest plan involves making U.S. Steel a wholly-owned subsidiary. President Biden previously blocked the sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon, citing national security concerns. President Trump has said he would like to see Nippon investing into U.S. Steel but he wants the company to remain under American ownership.
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms season ended with a disappointing 4-2 loss in Hershey in game five of their playoff series. Phantoms coach Ian Laperriere says he and the players need to learn from the loss. "I'm very proud. I'm very, very proud right now. I know I'll learn and be better because of this and the players will be the same. Embrace it in the summer when you train, because you don't want to feel that pain again," Laperriere said. Hershey moves on to play Charlotte in the next round of the playoffs.
