Here's what's trending for April 7.

Susan Wild says she is not running for Congress in 2026. The Democrat, who lost to Republican Ryan Mackenzie last November tells the Morning Call, “I am not running next year,” Wild said. “I’m not foreclosing ever running for office again, although I suspect that the longer I’m out of it, the less likely that I would do it again.” At this point, Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure is the only Democrat who has announced their intention to run, however Wild tells the Morning Call, she is working with another candidate who will announce plans to run in the coming weeks. Wild represented the Lehigh Valley on Capitol Hill for three terms, before her defeat last fall.

The tariffs announced last week by President Trump sent the stock market into a major spiral. So what does host of WAEB's More Than Money Gene Dickison advise you to do? "If you're investment timeline is longer than three years, don't do anything. Don't sell out into this down market. If your timeline is shorter than that, and you're in the market, you probably should not have been and that's when you need to sit with an advisor that you trust," Dickison says. He says stock markets hate uncertainty and imposing the tariffs has created a lot of that.

15 days after it began, a fire along Cherryville Road in Lehigh Township is still burning. Back on March 22, the fire was discovered in a mulch pile. Since that time, Lehigh Township Fire Department officials say they have been fighting the fire and monitoring the situation, but the mulch continues to burn. A line has been dug around the perimeter of the pile to contain the smoldering material. The fire department says it has been carefully watching the fire, and will continue doing that until it has been completely extinguished.

A Pottstown police officer was shot after a Sunday afternoon car accident. Police say just after 5 o'clock there was a two car accident in Pottstown. When police arrived, they say a struggle began with one of the car's occupants as he tried to pull out a gun. The suspect ran from the scene to his residence, followed by police. When the man got to his home, he allegedly shot at two officers, hitting one of them in the shoulder. The man then barricaded himself inside the house for several hours before finally being taken into custody. A shelter in place order was issued until around 11pm last night. The wounded officer is expected to fully recover.

President Trump is standing by his decision to put tariffs on imports from across the world, saying its "medicine" for decades of unfair trade practices. Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Dave McCormick talks about how jobs moving overseas impacted communities like the one he grew up in. "When I was a kid, we had 2000 workers in the carpet mill. We have 200 now. This is meant to fix a fundamental problem and rework America's economy," McCormick told Fox News.

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is looking to stop drug smuggling in federal prisons. The Democrat Fetterman and Republican West Virginia Senator Jim Justice have teamed up to introduce the Bureau of Prisons Security Check and Action against Narcotics in Mail Act. The bill, also known as the BOP SCAN Mail Act, would require the Bureau to develop and implement a digital scanning system that would detect fentanyl and other synthetic drugs being smuggled by mail. Fetterman's office says inmate overdose deaths at federal prisons have increased by 600-percent over the past two decades.

A study by the financial website WalletHub says New Jersey is the state that is least dependent on federal funding for areas including education, transportation and healthcare. WalletHub analyzed all 50 states according to the return on taxes paid to the federal government, its share of federal jobs and the share of state funding that comes from the federal government. California and Delaware come right behind New Jersey, while the states that are most dependent on federal aid are Alaska, Kentucky and West Virginia.

Pirates President Travis Williams says the Roberto Clemente logo that was on a pad at right field is going back up after its removal sparked some controversy over the weekend. Williams says the removal of the logo was not intentional and was an oversight when new advertising was added to the panel. Roberto Clemente Junior posted only "WOW..." in response to a photo of the pad with the logo gone on social media. Williams apologized to the Clemente family and they are meeting with team officials this morning.
