Tom Morello Covers 'Highway To Hell' With Bruce Springsteen & Eddie Vedder

Tom Morello has a new album on the way, and he's kicking it all off with an epic cover of AC/DC's iconic "Highway To Hell" with two of the biggest rockstars: Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder.

Morello, Springsteen and Vedder's version of "Highway To Hell" is the first taste of The Atlas Underground Fire, and in a statement, Morello explained of the AC/DC cover:

"We had played 'Highway To Hell' live a few times with Eddie Vedder on vocals when I was on tour with the E Street Band in Australia in 2014, so I began to wonder, what does the most ferocious version of this song sound like in 2021? I put together a pretty rocking demo and sent it over to Bruce and Eddie with my fingers crossed. This is what we got back: one of the greatest rock'n'roll songs of all time, sung by two of the greatest rock'n'roll singers of all time, and then I play a shredding guitar solo. Thank you and good night."

In addition to Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder, The Atlas Underground Fire also features Chris Stapleton, Damian Marley, Bring Me The Horizon, Phantogram, Mike Posner, grandson and more.

The project was the result of a "musical shutdown" for Morello in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained, "Whereas the previous Atlas Underground record had a very strict manifesto of this alloy of Marshall stack guitar and bass drops with social justice ghost stories as the thread woven between, this record was basically a drowning man grabbing at a life raft. I was playing as if my life and sanity depended on it. These songs are really a product of this historical moment. They came out of a dark, anxiety-riddled period as a true musical beam of hope."

The Atlas Underground Fire is set to be released on October 15th.
