1st Baseman Howard Shelved

By:Jeff Warner(@Jeff1470TheFox)

The Phillies might of got the victory on Monday night but they sure aren't celebrating after receiving some terrible news that will make a major impact on their lineup.

After being sent to the 15 day DL last week, 1B Ryan Howard has discovered he has a torn meniscus in his left knee that will require surgery. The injury will keep the slugger out for 6-8 weeks. In his place will be the young kid, Darrin Ruf. Philly fans have been begging for this kid to get an opportunity, well they got their wish!

Howard was batting a .266 average with 11 homeruns and 43 RBI's in 2013 before he sustained the injury.
